...which helped to put the board in the hole by almost $64,000. Don't you mean put taxpayers in the hole another $64,000? Our country is nothing but a huge money grab. Nearly every city and county now has extensive codes and ordinances prohibiting everything that you do in, on, or with your property without paying a fee. Permits are simply you paying for permission from these overlords. There is no longer a need for Homeowner associations because the city and counties are taking that role. They force racial diversity in schools but there is no visual diversity in a neighborhood when every house and yard look the same. It's time to return this country to individual rights, not "bureaucrat" control.

Here you go again.

How many of the Top 10 List of Unnecessary Licensing in NC businesses does Pope or his cronies have businesses? If I look closely, many. The Civitas Institue is controlled by Pope and his cronies, which is fine. However, Pope and his cronies should do a little truth in advertising when Civitas comes out for not regulating businesses that can harm folks. All of the Civitas Top 10 should be licensed for good reasons. Give it up!

As a newly-licensed, regulated income tax return preparer, I'd like to point out the obvious, with some facts: before IRS licensing, there were roughly 950,000 'unlicensed' return preparers while today there are only 700,000 or so registered and in the process of becoming licensed. Licensing creates scarcity, raises prices, creates barriers to entry, creates another bureaucracy and does nothing as well as the free market to protect against 'incompetents', crooks or other politically imagined horrors from our nanny state.
This, of course, applies to most every 'licensed' profession. Licensing does nothing that common law and the free market couldn't regulate much better and cheaper.
