For those who are puzzled by teh number of people who vote Democrat despite claiming to have conservative mores. Democrats are the most uninformed people out there. My son and his wife read nothing. No newspaper, no magazines. They watch cooking shows and HSN. Both are well educated, my son graduated state magna cum laude in civil engineering. I don't try to talk to them anymore. They bore me to death. They both make buckets of money. She has a 10 year contract selling the Feds all the furniture in DC. He works for a large construction firm with federal contracts. They live in Fairfax County, VA and are the biggest Yuppies I have ever met. His mother and I are not up to his standards because we are Republicans. They know one veteran, me. My son thinks people who join the military do so because they aren't very intelligent. Never mind these Yellow Dogs you are speaking about. It is these ignorant Yuppies that keep the Democrats in power. It's the party of the intelligent people.

To Fred,

I am on Medicare and would rate it highly. The cost is reasonable for both it and my BCBS plan. I take three drugs a month none of them generic with what I consider reasonable copays. Really, a $300. a month drug for $30? A $476 one for $60? I've never had an issue that required me to deal with either since 2004 when I went on it. The same with Social Security. I do everything on my computer and never have to deal with either which probably has a lot to do with my satisfaction.

When your side only has one candidate, then that candidate will have a bigger number than the other side who will have multiple candidates. When each side only has one candidate, then the equation will look a lot different. The 40% who think NObama is the best to handle healthcare are the liberals who responded, everyone else likely split their opinion up amongst the candidate that they favored on the Republican side. As for me, I would have been in the 15% who thinks none of them are the best answer.

If you total everything up, 52% think NObama is not the answer while 8% did not respond.

Responses to questions # 23 and Obamacare are scary. # 29 shows 41% in ages 21-40 and 41 - 55, which appears to be the demographic for the 40% approval of Obama's good judgement on health care issue., # 23.

There are contradictions in results, IMO.
#10 - NC legislature should not issue debt without voter approval 83%
#14 - Govt will be the eventual single payer 47%
#16 - No nationwide free health care 59%
#17 - Worse off under health reform law 12% margin
Several - against imposed costs and regs of Obamacare
Favorable opinions on Medicaid and Medicare
#23 - Obama has best judgement on future of health care 40% (20% + over
next candidate)

45% Dem, 33% Rep, 22% Ind

Does this poll reflect Democratic confusion on issues and ogic? Or does it reflect a general confusion on the issues?
It does show some erosion of Dem support of Obama, but the mix of responses to the survey does not confirm a clear defeat of Obama. If Obama has the best grasp of health care issues, why does support for Obamacare reduce on certain aspects of it? If we are worse off under the law (#17), how does Obama have best judgement of all the candidates? If we would be worse off
under health care law, how would Dem Party do a better job of handling health care reform? #21 36%-33% 17% neither.

The big one is that NC should not obligate taxpayers without voter approval, yet 40% think that Obama has best grasp of health care future, while public debt increased by $ 5 trillion under his programs.

I have difficulty understanding that these results are so confounding and inconsistent, except for the fact that Democrats responded at a 45% rate. At least, some of them are conservative and the percentages reflect voter registration across the state.

I am totally confused as many of you have attested to, because the percentile that still support Obamacare and would vote for him blow my mind. I find that when talking to Democrats that they would vote for anyone with Democrat by their name rather than do any research to determine what that person stands for and how it is going to affect our daily lives. Our country is going under, and yet we have so many uninformed people in this country who don't have a care in the world about getting involved in our political system by just being a concerned citizen and checking into candidates' ideology.

Speaking of Medicaid in particular. A very simple change would make a huge change in abuse and cost of the system. Charge a nominal copay. My daughter works works the emergence room. A huge number of people show up with clearly non emergency ( e.g. sore throat, a temperature without first trying aspirin or Tylenol ) conditions, because they know they can't be turned away and it is "free". I wonder how many of these people in the survey understand it is not "free" it is the same as asking your neighbor to pay for your trip the the Emergency Room.

A lot of things in this survey surprised me, but nothing as much as the favorable impression of Medicare (71%) and Medicaid (58%), especially considering a third of the respondents were retired. Having dealt with Medicare for my deceased mother, and as a retired physician who participated in the Medicare program, I can only assume the 71% of people with a favorable impression have not yet had any dealings with Medicare. I believe it is a clumsy, awkward, inefficient, dysfunctional, fraud-ridden, wasteful, bureaucratic program bound up in senseless, illogical, counterproductive regulations and red tape and has no allowance for any application of common sense or rationality. And Medicaid is much worse.

I totally agree with Karen's statement. Jane's comments that most Democrats do not pay attention to what is going on rings true as I have tried to discuss the issues with my democrate friends and find they will not discuss any issue. Maybe our polls should rethink how they are asking questions for I find that most people will look at poll results and form an opinion.

Ben, Karen, Michelle I join you in being perplexed about the inconsistent answers to questions 4, 15, 16, 21, and above all 23. On the other hand, much of the voter disaffection with the conservative candidate and message is largely due to the nasty primary that conservatives have waged against each other. The message is only now targeting Obama's total failure in economics, foreign affairs, energy, debt management, etc, etc. Hopefully, the inconsistent voters will stop and consider Obama's first term. Has he shown leadership, or divisiveness; has he been a President or just a politician. We conservatives are very late in making our positive message for preserving liberty while using valuable time trashing each other. That waste of time and effort should have ended long ago. If Obama does win a second term, he owes a great deal of thanks to Newt and Rick.

Karen & Ben...you both summarized my initial thoughts perfectly. All I can say is "ditto" for me! I just don't understand the disconnect...Is this party over principle? Race over policy? Style over substance? WHY do people who oppose the agenda of BHO continue to support him? He has been a huge failure with no record to run on, yet it will take a small miracle to defeat him...esp. since so many dead people and cartoon characters also plan to vote for him again. (Please, oh, please...let us get a voter ID law in place! But then again, the DOJ keeps over ruling them in states that pass them. What the heck do we do with that?!?) Pray for the blind to see...!!!!
