When you come into this country ILLEGALLY you have committed a crime. Period. Through, whatever means necessary, these people should be sent home. Our country is in a financial crisis and illegal immigration is magnifying the problem tremendously. If the illegal alien has a child while here (of course, we paid the bills) they should still be sent home. They can apply and come back legally so their children can be raised here or; that child, when 18 can come back into 'their' country of birth with proper documentation. Their immigration crimes are no different than any other crime in this country. If our government officials cannot vote the voice of the people they should not be in office.

You speak of large numbers of North Carolinians who oppose illegal immigration. My only question is: When did our elected representatives start to concern themselves with what, we the people think? We now have a new constitution . "government of the government, by the government, and for the government" And it probably will not perish from the earth.
