At CLC this morning, Melody Himel Clarke of Heritage Action is explaining more about how people can help the House Freedom Caucus — a group which includes NC Rep. Mark Meadows.
This group split from the Republican Study Committee. The Freedom Caucus is trying to point representatives toward conservative ideas and policies. Clarke’s talk is about how to help the Caucus advance conservative policies. More can be found at HeritageAction.com.
“Spinal fortitude is just not a naturally occurring phenomenon” on Capitol Hill, Clark says. But hearing from constituents can strengthen some of those congressional spines.
She says the current budget fight is vital, and she urged attendees at her breakout session to let their member of Congress know how mad they are.
Lawmakers say they’ll cut spending later. But “that’s a Lucy and the football moment,” she said.
