After emphasizing the importance of passing the health care reform bill with bipartisan support, Democrats are now considering a different direction. Unable to get Republicans and conservative Democrats on board with their proposals they are considering going the reconciliation route.
Reconciliation would require only a simple majority vote to pass the bill which the Democrats have in both houses of Congress. The move would set a dangerous precedent and also have several drawbacks, yet if the Democrats go forward with reconciliation they will most assuredly advance with little restraint and with a heavy tilt toward the left.
That’s right – you can pretty much guarantee it will include the Public Option
…and maybe an attempt to eliminate private health insurance all together?
