The Senate Committee on Health Education Labor and Pensions is slated to vote this morning on President’s Trump’s nomination for U.S. Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos.
DeVos has spent years working to expand educational opportunities for disadvantaged children through the use of charter schools and private school vouchers. Teachers unions and liberal Democrats have called DeVos unqualified. Last week policy organizations from across the country – including Civitas — demonstrated their support for DeVos in a letter of support.
According to Washington insiders , a party-line vote is expected. The nomination would then to the full Senate.
Where are the qualifications? DeVos is even less qualified than Ben Carson. Once again Civitas chooses ideology over evidence. Were dinosaurs used to till farms?
50/50 – one more needed! If NCCivitas had any guts they would be making calls to Tillis and Burr and encourage a no vote
According to NCCivitas
@lisamurkowski @susancollins are you two threatened by a strong woman & won’t back @BetsyDeVos for @usedgov? @realDonaldTrump #SchoolChoice
pretty weak Civitas!
