This N&O article highlights the justifiable frustration of a Garner mom whose children are being treated like pawns on the Wake Co. Board of Education's chessboard. The key passage in the article is this:

Note the use of the word "forced" in that sentence. Government policy is virtually universally accompanied by some use (or threat) of force, the silly Wake County busing policy is merely the latest example.
Remember this lesson next time you hear of another left-wing scheme to achieve something for the "common good." Society is merely a collection of individuals. And it is the wants, needs, talents, hopes and dreams of individuals that are too often pushed aside in pursuit of what we are promised to be the common good.
