While commemorating Father’s Day by eating a celebratory lunch with two members of the military and two barbers (quite the combination), a peculiar thing happened to the President. According to a news report, Obama enjoyed a meal of pork ribs, collard greens, red beans and rice and cornbread. I wonder if Michelle had counted the calories beforehand and pre-approved this meal, but I digress.
The report states that amid the unexpected stop for barbecue, the President forgot to pay the bill. Whoops!
Don’t worry, though. The “oversight” was soon corrected and the $55.58 tab was paid by the end of the business day. The phrase that “there is no such thing as a free lunch” has taken on a new meaning to the President!
This story got me thinking. If the President is forgetting to pay his lunch bills, perhaps he is also forgetting the trillions of dollars he has spent and the enormous debts he has accrued will have to be settled. Or, maybe he is hoping to leave office and let the next president pick up the tab. It is funny how life’s little incidents sometimes expose larger trends and character traits.
