Seems like the new governor is disappointed in the amount NC is slated to receive under the new federal spending bill.
This strikes me as rather sad. It's bad enough the state's irresponsible spending binge has sent budget makers scrambling to close the budget gap. But now state lawmakers expect the federal government to bail them out of a tough situation, allowing them to avoid making difficult decisions about spending priorities. They demand to be spared from actually making decisions they were elected to make, like balancing the state budget. Such an attitude paints them as reckless, spoiled teenagers demanding that mommy and daddy not only pay off their maxed-out credit card, but open a new line of credit as well.
That's right, Governor, get back to the front of the line at the trough. Where does Purdue think the money comes from? She does realize that North Carolinians pay federal taxes too, right?
