At a joint press conference yesterday, Senate President Phil Berger (R-Rockingham) and House Speaker Tim Moore (R-Cleveland) announced that teachers should expect an average 6.2 percent pay raise beginning in the 2018-19 school year, as part of the legislative short session which begins today. It is the fifth consecutive year that teachers in North Carolina have received a pay raise.
The leaders also announced the launching of a new web tool, www.ncteacherraise.com. The site will help teachers, policymakers and taxpayers understand the impact of raises on teacher salaries.
