The Senate Finance committee just voted to approve a bill by Sen. David Hoyle (D-Gaston) to repeal the county option of holding a referendum on the land transfer tax.
As you may remeber, the land transfer tax appeared in last year’s budget conference report without appearing in either the House or Sente passed versions of their budgets.
The bill now goes to the full Senate as early as tomorrow. If approved, it would still have to be passed be the House (which seems unlikely since they wouldn’t let an amendment on it be heard on the budget).
