According to the Asheville Citizen-Times, Governor Bev Perdue unveiled some new spending proposals that will be included in her first budget next week.
Yes, you read that right, new spending proposals.
Apparently, the $4 billion budget deficit is not stopping Gov. Perdue's appetite to grow government. Among her recommendations:
– $7 million for the N.C. Main Street Program.
– $2 million for One North Carolina Small Business Program.
– $5 million to the N.C. Green Business Fund.
So given our large budget hole, Perdue plans to increase spending on corporate welfare and give tax breaks to those who do not pay taxes. Unbelievable.
It gets better. She proposes spending $50 million on grants for water and sewer improvements. This comes just weeks after she took $100 million in grant money that is used for the same things from the Clean Water Management Trust Fund. So she steals $100 million one week, just to give $50 million of it back the next? Is she serious or is she just playing 3 card monte with our tax dollars?
