Here’s an interesting piece on how private investors may help get roads built in this state. Private tollways would be managed in public-private partnerships with resources coming from those who actually use these roadways — closer to the point-of-need. And while I realize there are problems of increased rent-seeking and corruption with such partnerships, it’s surely better than N.C. transportation system being funded and run by government:

Yes, profit. That’s what motivates people to do things efficiently and with quality — not shittily and shoddily like most state public goods.
