Since this blog started almost two years ago, its been no secret that these pages have often been critical of Wake County government. However, when government does the right thing, it is only fair to praise it. Now is one of those times.
Earlier this week, Wake County developed a new web site called WATCH (Wake Accountability Tax Check). The web site allows anyone to track county expenses, uncover government waste and ask questions about spending. Although the site is far from complete, WATCH – along with the John Locke Foundation's new transparency web site — are helping to make North Carolina government more accountable and that's good for everyone. WATCH is a step in the right direction and I applaud the county on its efforts.
