North Carolina has the 19th best public school system in the country, according to WalletHub, a personal finance website.
The ranking examines 17 key metrics across such categories as student-teacher ratio, average SAT and ACT scores and dropout rate.
Why is this noteworthy? Last year WalletHub ranked North Carolina as only the 37th best public school system in the country. Jumping 18 spots in one year is a big improvement.
I haven’t checked, but I wonder if any state jumped over more states than North Carolina.
Does that say more about the real progress NC public schools made or more about the methodology of used by WalletHub? I don’t know.
Still, congratulations to our state’s public schools.
