If you have been paying any attention to the coverage of the North Carolina Association of Educators “One Voice” rally you might have noticed an odd phrase that keeps popping up.
During a speech on Tuesday Gov. Perdue expressed her commitment to education by telling a crowd of union members that “these children belong to us.” The quote even made it to the title of today’s NCAE political briefing.
It is a little bit disturbing to see that “these children belong to us” has become the slogan for the education budget battle. Is NCAE interested in educating children or taking all control away from parents?
North Carolina’s children don’t belong to the Governor, the teacher’s union, or the big government bureaucracy they are fighting to maintain. We live in America, if kids “belong” to anyone at all it is their parents.
Check out the video to get a glimpse of Perdue’s possession problem.
