ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS
Andrew C. McCarthy is a former top federal prosecutor, a senior fellow at National Review Institute, a contributing editor at National Review, a Fox News contributor, and a well-known commentator on legal, national security, and political affairs.
McCarthy is a former Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney in New York, best known for leading the prosecution against the Blind Sheik (Omar Abdel Rahman) and eleven other jihadists for waging a terrorist war against the United States—including the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and a plot to bomb New York City landmarks. After the 9/11 attacks, he supervised the U.S. attorney’s command post near Ground Zero. He later served as an advisor to the Deputy Secretary of Defense.
He is the author of several books including his most recent New York Times Best Seller, Ball of Collusion, which was released in August of 2019.
Amy O. Cooke — “The Right AOC”— is the chief executive officer of the John Locke Foundation and publisher of Carolina Journal. For more than 16 years Amy has been a champion of free markets and limited, constitutional government. Amy’s responsibility as CEO is to lead the talented staff into the organization’s fourth decade of promoting public policy that ensures all North Carolinians have the freedom and opportunity to thrive.
Donald Bryson is president and chief executive officer of the Civitas Institute, a nonprofit, nonpartisan policy organization dedicated to removing barriers to freedom for North Carolinians.
Previously, Bryson was state director of Americans for Prosperity-North Carolina (AFP-NC). While at the helm of AFP-NC from 2014 to 2018, he led the chapter through several successful campaigns to expand conservative policies in the state — including three major state income tax cuts and the expansion of the Opportunity Scholarship program. Bryson started with AFP-NC in 2011 as a field coordinator in charge of grassroots activities in the Raleigh-Durham area.
He has authored and co-authored op-eds that have appeared in state and national publications including the News & Observer, Fox News, and the Wall Street Journal.
