Leah Byers is a policy analyst with the Civitas Institute. Leah is a native of Rutherford County. She believes data-driven policies based on conservative principles are the best path forward for her home state of North Carolina.

Leah’s career in state government began with internships in the offices of the Lieutenant Governor and the NC House Majority Leader. She is trained in state-level policy analysis, with primary interests in the fields of fiscal and education policy.

Leah recently earned her MPA from the University of Kentucky, completing her thesis research on the effects of state policies on charter school outcomes. Leah obtained her BA in political science and sociology from North Carolina State University.

During her free time, Leah enjoys reading and spending time with her dog, Tucker.
