RALEIGH – The Civitas Institute has released a report revealing that more than 50 of Governor Roy Cooper’s appointments are either employed by or are board members of North Carolina progressive non-profits found in the online database Mapping the Left (MTL).
Founded by Civitas Institute in 2015, Mapping The Left(MTL) is an online database committed to providing factual, up-to-date information regarding the vast network of left-wing groups and activists in our state.
“Governor Cooper’s choice for appointments makes it clear that the progressive left is alive and well inside of his administration,” said Donald Bryson, president of the Civitas Institute. “The tangled web of the political left’s activities is likely to only grow more extravagant during this administration.”
A few appointees of particular interest are:
Ken Eudy, founder of Capstrat, a PR/consulting firm that made millions from state contracts. (Senior Advisor)
Heather Jacobs Deck, deputy director of Sound Rivers, a recipient of hundreds of thousands of Smithfield environmental grant funds approved by Cooper’s office while Attorney General. (Sedimentation Control Commission)
Marybe McMillian, president of NC AFL-CIO, North Carolina’s largest association of unions. (NC Works Commission)
Please see Susan Myrick’s article here for more information on these appointments, as well as others not mentioned in this release.
Founded in 2005, the Civitas Institute is a Raleigh, NC-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit policy organization that fights to remove barriers to freedom so that all North Carolinians can enjoy a better life.
