You may have read our own Brian Balfour’s take on the $2 Billion bond just passed in the State Senate. The cost to NC taxpayers is certainly hefty, but so are the implications as spelled out in an article in NC Capitol Connection.
Matt Caulder reports that language in the bill seems to give the General Assembly control over how the money is spent after the bond is approved. The funds apparently can be reallocated to other areas without requiring another vote.
This $2 billion bond has been dubbed a “slush fund” by Carolina Plotthound, where Caulder’s article is currently the top story.
