The Wake County School Board announced today that they are going to seek a 100% high school graduation rate by 2014. According to the N&O: "School board members and administrators acknowledged that it would be
extremely difficult to reach the goal, calling it 'aspirational.'"
Aspirational? I call it delusional, especially given that the Board gave "no specifics" on how it was to be accomplished, only that they were going to try really, really hard.
And to help it along the way, it is going to track student progress towards graduation with indicators such as:
Average SAT scores and
Enrollment in foreign languages.
Ok, what exactly do SAT scores and being able to speak Mandarin have to do with graduating from High School?
