Under the Dome is reporting that Jim Crawford (D-Granville), one of the five Democrats who supported the House Republican budget has asked that Golden LEAF Foundation be able to keep $50 million of a proposed $67.6 million payment. The change is included in the new Senate budget bill which is expected to be voted on later this week. Under the terms of the budget approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee, the full $67.6 million Golden LEAF payment would have been diverted to the State Treasury.
