Sue Myrick announced today that she will be introducing legislation that would cut off federal funding for colleges and universities that admit illegal aliens. Myrick plans to introduce the bill in September when Congress reconvenes. Myrick’s bill comes in response to a statement by DHS that claims public colleges and universities are free to decide for themselves whether to admit illegal aliens.
Already, Catawba Valley CC has announced plans to enroll illegal aliens — in spite of the fact that current community college policy prohibits illegal alien admissions.
The State Board of Community Colleges will be meeting this Thursday and Friday to decide whether to admit illegal aliens. Currently, the 12:00 pm luncheon session on Thursday is devoted to “immigration issues.” The meeting, which will be held in the Caswell Building at 200 W. Jones St., is open to the public.
