The giddy headline from the NCAE’s (North Carolina Association of Educators) Daily Political Briefing – says it all: “Final Budget Holds Class Size Harmless, Thousands of teacher, teacher assistant and support staff jobs saved.” And here I thought, NCAE was also concerned about educating “the children” and improving public education. They said they were….In my view, the declaration on saving jobs is premature. There are a whole lot of hiring decisions yet to be made at the local level. This fight is likely to have a round two.

Making up with legislators, which I believe is one of the NCAE’s goals here, will come at a high price.
Their strategy will come back to haunt them when complaints from LEAs begin to roll in.
