Seemingly, the case of former Democratic Gov. Mike Easley is moving forward and so-called missing pieces are starting to filter into play. According to the News & Observer, “Judge Howard Manning issued an order today giving lawyers for The News & Observer, The Charlotte Observer, several other newsgathering organizations and the conservative John Locke Foundation permission to depose Young (Reuben Young, once the chief legal adviser for former Gov. Mike Easley), now the state secretary of crime control and public safety.”
I seriously doubt if Judge Manning used the words “conservative John Locke Foundation” in his order. Here’s a suggestion for whoever came up with the descriptive wording, if you are going to describe one organization you should describe them all.
It would almost be more appropriate to say, lawyers for the liberal News & Observer, way left Charlotte Observer, several bloggers and the right-wingers at Carolina Journal (who ploughed the fields for the ripe, main-stream media picking) are now pressing the matters that have been going on for years – minus, of course, those wacky right-wingers.
