Sadly we have yet another example of school administrators using teachers, students and school time to fight proposed budget cuts.
The latest display of audacity comes from Lee County Public Schools where Ann Beal, Principal of Tramway Elementary School distributed this letter to faculty and staff at the school.
Principal Beal evidently has no qualms about scheduling Tramway teachers and staff – sometimes five or more at a time — to attend and speak at 3 PM meetings away from the school. Aren’t teachers supposed to be at school during the school day? Nor does she have a problem with enlisting students and parents into her cause.
Yes, school staff have a right to express their political views, but if those efforts are on school time and use school resources, it’s wrong and should be stopped.
