Congratulations Raleigh-Durham! The Daily Beast has just rated the Raleigh-Durham area as the #1 smartest city to live and work in. Check out the rankings here.
It looks like some of the criteria used to pick the “smartest” city… post secondary institutions and college degrees are the same factors that also drive liberalism and atheism. Both of these reasons contribute to RDU’s “progressive ” nature. This would help explain why San Fransicko was #2. You have to go all the way to #14 to find another quasi-conservative city: Salt Lake. It was odd how the largest research university in town, NCSU, didn’t rate a mention.
The use of nonfiction book sales and voter turnout stats are interesting, though but I still have hard time reading anything under the influence of Tina Brown.

I question the intelligence of the authors of this list, and I worry for the future of the State of my birth, the Old North State. Those “engaged political minds” are wreaking havoc upon our State’s economy and the liberties of its citizens.
