Recently, I wrote an article discussing term limits. A number of signs supporting the idea can be found at just about any Tea Party. The logic seems simple enough: politicians who stick around too long obtain too much power. While some of our Founders, George Mason and Thomas Jefferson included, also appear to have strongly supported term limits, the highly specialized profession of legislating may require the knowledge and experience of elder statesmen. In short, the debate over term limits is not as clear cut as it appears to be on the surface. Read the article here.
Since when did “legislating” become a “highly specialized profession”??. The perpetuation of that myth is very likely the cause of much of the problem.
