Sunday's Herald-Sun ran this piece I wrote about North Carolina's Golden LEAF organization. In short, the organization was established to disburse one-half of NC's share of the Master Settlement Agreement (MSA)- an amount estimated to total $2.3 billion over 25 years.
"In reality, Golden LEAF has become highly politicized and subject to the whims of now-Governor Easley and other power players in the General Assembly.
It is a slush fund that needs to be dissolved."
The Herald-Sun piece is actually a condensed version of this article posted at nccivitas.org.
Read why dissolving this corrupt organization would help fill the state's budget gap and increase the accountability over how NC's MSA funds are disbursed.
