Yes, that is an actual quote from Senator Tony Rand. Good to see him finally admit it. Too bad the one responsible for doing so is the one responsible for fixing the problem now.
Civitas has pointed out the waste in our annual Pork Reports — 2008, 2007, and 2006.
The article continues: "But he [Sen. Rand] insisted that legislators will cut unnecessary or redundant programs to ensure that the state rebounds from the downturn."
My question is — if the programs were unnecessary or redundant, why were they created in the first place?
I also liked this quote from Rand:
“Now, we’re going to make sure we can justify every penny we spend.”
Oh, NOW you’re going to start spending money on things you can justify. How many billions in taxpayer dollars in the past have been unjustified?
