Kinston, N.C. — The North Carolina Department of Transportation will spend $800,000 to study the possibility of a rail link to the Global TransPark near Kinston.
Seriously? I had to double check the calendar and make sure it wasn’t April Fools Day.
You’ve got to be kidding me. What idiot bureaucrat thinks it’s a good idea to poor more money into this boondoggle project? I want him or her to step forward and take credit for this absurd idea so we can all throw eggs at them.
And we wonder why our roads never get built and the ones that do fall apart.
Chris: What is the problem? The rail spurs will not cost too much more that $25,000,000 or so. And we really do not want the spurs anyway. We only use them as an excuse as to why the GTP has not met with success. Of course our best excuse is: “Look how long it took for the RTP to become successful?” By the way, how long did the RTP take to become a success? We will need to find another excuse when Father Time takes the RTP excuse away from us. Do you know of any consultants who specialize in excuses? It is really harder than you think to keep coming up with these excuses. But we manage.
For all those who read this and want to consider the other side of the arguement, please ask yourself:
What has ever developed in our without government investement of some sort?
How long did any of those investments take to pay off in a big way?
Why do the opponents of the TransPark ignore the industries, technology, and other investment that the GTP has brought to Kinston. There is no way the military niche industries growing there now would have come without it.
Also – we do need an Interstate Spur – please get the Eastern NC road effort focussed on that. The Rail money is not takeing away from roads. That money has to be spent on rail and the GTP is the best rail investment going.
I meant
What has ever developed in our Nation without…
